How do products earn the Non-GMO Butterfly?
The Non-GMO Project works with brands and independent, third-party verifyers to co this. First, these TA's - Technical Administrators - use their techinical expertise to ensure products live up to their claims. The TA looks at every ingredient and input, like corn or soy. They also conduct on-site inspections of the processing facility. Next, once the product passes the evaluation phase, it receives a Certification of Verification, proving it complies with the Non-GMO Project Standard. The company and its product receive the Butterfly Seal, so shopper can easilyfind it. To keep the certification valid, all products are reviewed annually to ensure they continue to meet the highest stards for GMO avoidance.
